Felipe Cousiño, new president of the Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce
On the occasion of the AGM of the Chamber, held in the Sheraton Hotel on Tuesday 23 May, Felipe Cousiño, Lawyer and Partner of Alessandri & Compañía , assumed his new role as President of the Chamber for 2006- 2009. In the AGM the President gave an overview of the Chamber´s progress, highlighting adjustments and improvements that have been implemented as well as those aspects that have remained unchanged. The treasurer then reported on the Chamber´s finance for the year 2005-2006.
This was followed by a lunch with Guest Speaker Sr. Carlos Mena, Executive Vice President of the Foreign Investment Committee who spoke to an audience of over fifty guests on Investment Conditions in Chile, providing an up-to-date view of Chile's favorable position in the world. Sr. Mena emphasized the importance of social development, citing corporate social responsibility as a vital tool in order to achieve economic development. Furthermore, he underlined the importance of communication between local and foreign firms on subjects such as good business practice, social responsibility and reduction of environmental impacts for foreign investment.
The new President also presented prizes to two employees who have worked hard over a period of years to promote and develop the Chamber.

Felipe Cousiño, nuevo presidente de la Cámara Chileno-Británica de Comercio
En el marco de la Reunión General Anual de la Cámara Chileno Británica de Comercio, celebrada el martes 23 de mayo en el Hotel Sheraton, asumió como nuevo Presidente el abogado y socio de Alessandri & Compañía, Sr. Felipe Cousiño Prieto para el período 2006 - 2009. Durante la Reunión General Anual, el saliente Presidente dio cuenta de la gestión anual de la Cámara, destacando cambios e innovaciones, además de los aspectos consolidados. Posteriormente, el tesorero entregó el informe financiero del año 2005-2006.
Inmediatamente después, se ofreció un almuerzo con invitado de honor Sr. Carlos Mena, Vicepresidente Ejecutivo del Comité de Inversiones Extranjeras, quien expuso sobre "Las condiciones para invertir en Chile" frente a más de 50 invitados. En este marco, el Sr. Mena enfatizó la necesidad de un crecimiento social paralelo al económico, indicando la responsabilidad social empresarial como una herramienta de desarrollo necesaria para lograr esta equidad. Recalcó además, la necesidad de intercambio entre empresas extranjeras y locales sobre temas tales como mejores prácticas laborales, responsabilidad social y regulación del impacto ambiental frente a las inversiones.
Asimismo, la reunión fue una excelente oportunidad para que el nuevo Presidente de la asociación gremial distinguiera con un premio a dos funcionarios de la Cámara, los que han dedicado buena parte de su vida al desarrollo de la colectividad.
