The attorney assumed the direction of the National Institute of Industrial Property on June 24th.

The President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, designated the distinguished attorney of the Universidad de Chile, Loreto Bresky, as the new director of the National Institute of Industrial Property, an entity dependent on the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, after being proposed in the quatern of candidates for the position.

Before joining the entity, Loreto Bresky worked as an independent industrial property advisor. Between 2008 and 2018 she worked at Alessandri Attorneys at law, where she became a partner. Previously, she was director of the industrial property department at Albagli Zaliasnik, where she worked from 1998 to 2008.

In addition, she has actively participated in the Chilean Intellectual Property Association, the Inapi Civil Society Council, the Fourth Deputy of the General Directorate of International Economic Relations and as a consultant in the Fundación Chile Mujeres.

“Inapi has been highlighted as one of the most important intellectual property agencies in the world and our objective is to strengthen that leadership and continue with the implementation of the standards of the leading agencies at the international level and, therefore, President Piñera considered that Loreto Bresky is the ideal person to lead this process,” said the former Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, José Ramón Valente.

Also, the former Secretary of State thanked the management of Esteban Figueroa, who served as deputy director of the entity since last October.

Loreto Bresky thanked President Sebastián Piñera for her appointment and assured that “industrial property is a tool that contributes to the generation of value, an engine that drives the growth and development of countries. As director of Inapi, I will contribute not only by promoting innovation and development, technology transfer and the dissemination of knowledge, but also by promoting public policies aimed at Chile’s advancement and consolidation as a leader in the region.
