Felipe Cousiņo has vast experience in international business transactions, free trade law and the regulation of financial markets. His primary focus is on insurance, investment companies and mutual funds as well as on mergers and acquisitions and structuring and planning international joint ventures.
Mr. Cousiņo is the head of our Mutual Fund and Pension Fund practice area and his leadership was instrumental in creating the regulatory framework for the first registration of non-Chilean mutual funds for sale to the public in Chile. His constant contribution and participation in this area of work was instrumental to his appointment as Co-Chair of the Investment Funds Committee of the International Bar Association (for the period 2011 - 2012).
Mr. Cousiņo was appointed President of the Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce for the 2006-2009 term.
He is an arbitrator of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Cousiņo joined the firm in 1991 and became a partner in 2001. He previously worked as a legal assistant for BankBoston in Santiago and later as a legal trainee for H.A. Simons Ltd., Consulting Engineers in Vancouver, Canada.
In 1996, Mr. Cousiņo graduated with merit from The London School of Economics and Political Science after having been granted a Chevening Scholarship by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
Felipe Cousiņo is a member of the Chilean Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
