New transformer in substation Charrúa opening

13 November, 2013

The minister of Energy Jorge Bunster said that having a solid transmission system, that is efficient and safe, is as important as having enough power generation.

Jorge Bunster, the Minister of Energy, opened the third bank of transformers in the substation Charrúa, which belongs to the electricity transmission company Transelec. The initiative had an investment of $36 million, so as to raise safety levels and increase power transmission from the south to the central region.

Along with the top executives of Transelec and key representatives of the region, the Minister of Energy said “having a solid transmission system efficient and safe, is as important as having enough power generation. We get nothing out of it if the energy that is produced elsewhere doesn’t have the connectivity to reach your destination”.

The minister also added that “the recently enacted Electricity Concessions will systematically address the insufficient capacity and strong energy transfer to vitiate our electricity system”.

Minister Bunster explained that the “law simplifies the process of granting provisional and strengthens the process of obtaining the final concession, since processing times fits, accurate observations and oppositions possible, modify the notification process, streamlines the pricing process property and resolve conflicts between different types of concession”.
